Resistors

Resistance, in terms of physical dimensions:

R=ρlAR = \frac{\rho l}{A}

Here:

  • ll: length
  • AA: cross-sectional area
  • ρ\rho: resistivity

If a voltage VV is applied across a conductor, then a given current II will flow through the conductor VIV \propto I. The proportionality constant is called resistance RR.
